Colleagues and online students,
I have been reading with interest and delight announcments on various lists of sites offering teachers and students the opportunity to meet synchronously online.
Accordingly, "Webheads" would like to invite you to attend its next world-wide online gathering of teachers AND students keenly interested in authentic, motivating, and communicative virtual language learning.
On Sunday, July 2, 2000, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 GMT, we plan to meet to discuss the following topic:
You can join the discussion in either voice or text chat ...

Background information
----------------------
The conference opportunity for our meeting is 'CALL for THE 21st CENTURY', the IATEFL Computer Sig Event to be held at ESADE, Barcelona, Spain. June 30th - July 2nd, 2000; http://www.paddocks64.freeserve.co.uk/CompSIG2/esade.htm.
There will be (at least) two online events at this conference. One is a Moo event on Saturday, July 1. Information on this event is at http://www.fed.qut.edu.au/tesol/cmc/barcelona/.
The Webheads event will be Sunday, July 2, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 GMT. The webheads event is unique in that it attempts to draw together online students and wired professionals and put them in touch with a live audience of conference-goers, whom I suspect will all be CALL enthusiasts and practitioners in their own right.
There was a practice for the discussion on June 11, 2000 which attracted nine students and half a dozen teacher-practitioners. There were technical difficulties preventing some from joining us which we think we have ironed out for the real event. The logs of the chat are at: http://www.homestead.com/vstevens/files/efi/ch000611.htm
I am sending this invitation to the members of various lists I follow and also the students in my online class Writing for Webheads. If you have synchronous online students, you are welcome to ask them to join us.
If you need assistance during the sessions, you can reach me at:
- ICQ 2774215
- Yahoo messenger vance_stevens
You are welcome to post this to other lists as you see fit.
Thank you,
Vance Stevens
