The Firewall in the Mind (Slide 35)
Webheads: entirely online, negligible f2f, since 1998

OK, if it's not dawning on you by now what a significant development in language teaching this is, allow me to impress you with a few more details. First of all, I'm not sure what the longest running online language class is, but Ying Lan and Felix are still with us, and the number of classmates has grown to over 40, with probably about ten of those keeping in regular touch. We are in effect a community, and like any community whose members meet at the pub from time to time, not everyone is there every time but people drop in now and then just to touch base.

Secondly, with the exception of Maggi who has met both Michael and I on her peregrinations, and Sophie and I, none of the rest of us have ever met. We have only met otherwise online. Now how does that go, you might wonder?
