Description of dive:

First dive was to Cement Barge. The atmosphere was hazy so we didn't have the usual transits visible from shore and we had to go on GPS and finding the boat from the surface, and all our GPS readings were out by any number of meters. The Blue Dolphin boatman and Kathleen, instructor who works for them sometimes, did a good job of finding the boat and anchoring right on it. Vis was not great. Sandra had the usual ear problems on descent but we took it slow. On the bottom not much on the wreck aside from the usual fish. I found a couple of nudibranchs which made it seem interesting. It was a nice dive actually, back and forth over the wreck and down in the sand for exercises. Sandra, first dive for several years, balked at her mask remove and clear and hover, but Mike did a compass out and back as I recall. When Mike went low on air it was back over the top and to the anchor. The anchor got fouled and couldn't be hauled and I made a second dive to retrieve it.

Description of dive:

Second dive was outside the breakwater. Visibility was better there, pleasantly clear actually. We descended with Sandra having ear problems early in the dive. So we took her to the rocks and she kept above us as Mike and I explored the boulders. We rounded the corner and made it to the Bateen Box, and at that point I coaxed her down in the sand where she managed to get the mask off, just, and no trouble getting it back on again. Hovering was not excellent, but her buoyancy is fine in general, so it was good enough. Mike did his dive three exercises, no worries. We swam back around the breakwater and decided to head out over the sand. When we passed under the shadow of the boat and Sandra indicated that her ears were bothering her, so we ascended to the boat. Mike seemed to remember this as a good dive, with clear conditions.
